Fresh peaches make all the difference in this old-fashioned cobbler that's perfect for late summer.

Ingredients

  • 6 peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Peel and slice the peaches.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, then stir in the milk just until combined.
  3. Pour the melted butter into a baking dish, then pour the batter over the butter — don't stir.
  4. Scatter the sliced peaches evenly over the batter, then sprinkle with a little extra sugar.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and the batter has risen up around the peaches.

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
